How To Dye Roots

Dying or coloring your hair is a good way to stay away from the unwanted grey strands. At the same time, it is but obvious that you would want the hair color to stay for a long time. In this context, dying the roots is the most advisable thing for you to do. It will help maintain the hair color for a long time. However, while applying the dye/color, you should be very careful, because inappropriate usage might damage your hair and make it dry and lifeless. Things Required 
  • Hair Color/Dye
  • Wide Toothed comb
  • Hair Clips
  • Plastic Gloves
  • Hair Color Applicator Bottle 
Procedure 
  • Shampoo your hair and towel-dry it.
  • Detangle your hair, using a wide-toothed comb.
  • Divide your hair evenly down, from the center.
  • Part the hair into quadrants and clip each section with the help of clips.
  • Prepare the hair color/dye solution. Read the instructions given in the hair color kit, while preparing the same.
  • Put the hair color/dye solution in the applicator bottle.
  • Now, release the clip from one of the quadrants of your hair.
  • Place the tip of the bottle close to your scalp, to apply the dye/color to the roots.
  • Now, squeezing the applicator bottle, stripe thinly spaced lines of the dye/color, over the entire area.
  • Re-clip the dyed/colored section of your hair, before moving to the other quadrants.
  • Repeat the above step for the rest of the quadrants.
  • After you are done with all the sections of your hair, remove all the clips.
  • Keep the color/dye on your hair, as per the time limit mentioned on the package.
  • Rinse your hair with water and towel-dry.  
Tips 
  • Wear an old t-shirt while dying/coloring your hair, because the dye/color might leave tough stains on your clothes.
  • Do not forget to wear plastic gloves, while making the hair dye/color solution. Otherwise, it might smear your fingers.
  • The time required for keeping the hair dye/color will depend upon the brand of the product. Read the instructions given in the hair color kit, before rinsing the dye/color off your hair.
  • To keep your hair dye/color stay for a long time, touch-up your roots once every four weeks.
  • If you are a beginner or want to experiment with dye/colors, make use of a semi-permanent hair dye/color. It doesn't stay for a long time.
  • Cover your hair with a hat or bandanna, while going out in the sun. This will protect the hair color, which may fade away because of the exposure to the sun.
